This summer we welcomed interns into 17 of our offices coast-to-coast. Inviting them into our culture of active collaboration, we engaged them in real projects for an educational and immersive look into the profession of transportation consulting. Championing them to learn by doing, our interns shadowed staff and were introduced to our state-of-the-industry tools, leading-edge software, and proprietary geographic information systems (GIS). These real-world, practical software skills served to expand their knowledge of how to harness data to problem-solve and pushed beyond their typical higher education coursework to make them more job-ready for their professional careers.
“Fehr & Peers’ inclusive and supportive environment provides a remarkable platform for growth. The firm’s openness to diverse perspectives and embracing new ideas creates a dynamic culture where creativity thrives, and every voice is valued. Notably, the internship program provides you with hands-on experience within substantial projects, which is particularly enriching. This opportunity affords you the invaluable chance to work alongside skilled and dedicated individuals, contributing to a rewarding learning journey.”

“I’ve had an amazing experience this summer learning hands-on about the world of transportation consulting and in such a welcoming and supportive environment. I’ve never felt scared to ask questions, had smiling faces greet me every day, and learned innumerable things about consulting, GIS, and what I want out of my future!”
“When I began my master’s program, I knew I wanted to intern at a place that had a supportive environment and where I could learn practical skills. I’m happy to say that Fehr & Peers encompasses both of those values. From the start, I’ve been given hands-on experience and learned just as much, if not more, than my first year as an urban planning student. The investment and encouragement that I’ve received as an intern has been invaluable and I look forward to further professional development with Fehr & Peers.”
Tyler Mathews, Los Angeles Office Intern, University of Southern California
As part of their hands-on learning, our program offers opportunities to participate in project meetings, fieldwork, and office and regional training tailored to different experience levels. Our interns are also invited to break away from their desks to connect with office staff in fun activities like philanthropy, outings, and afternoon socials. These components weave together to build connections with Fehr & Peers staff and boost their professional network. A special thanks to each of this year’s participating interns. We appreciate their energy and fresh perspectives, and we truly embrace this opportunity to foster and grow the profession. While our annual program formally takes place over the summer, internship opportunities are routinely available throughout the year.
