Geoff has over 16 years of experience spanning the spectrum of Fehr & Peers’ planning and engineering capabilities — from traffic operations and safety analyses to multimodal/ complete streets design to preparation of construction documents. Geoff believes that considering a combination of safety, equity, and local context for every project is critical to improving access and circulation for all travelers within a community. Geoff currently leads Fehr & Peers’ Engineering Discipline Group, a group of internal staff passionate about expanding engineering knowledge and expertise and evolving the state-of-the-practice.

Ian Barnes, a native of Sonoma County, is a Senior Associate with over 10 years of experience in multimodal planning and operations analysis. His work covers a broad spectrum of settings and project types in the North Bay, Bay Area and Northern California. His research interests include Transportation Demand Management strategy effectiveness, transportation funding applications and strategies, and using Big Data to assist in the evaluation of vehicle-miles traveled (VMT) for General Plans and complex land use projects. Ian also serves as one of Fehr & Peers’ leaders in traffic operations analysis, with expertise in Synchro, SimTraffic, Vistro, Visum and Vissim, including the development of 3D models and videos for public display purposes.

Bob is a North Bay resident with 35 years of experience developing and managing transportation planning efforts. Key North Bay projects include the recently approved General Plan Update, Downtown Precise Plan, TIA Guidelines, and Fee Update Study for San Rafael; recently launched work on the Petaluma General Plan and ATP; the Marin County Travel Safety Plan; the Healdsburg Avenue Complete Street Plan; the St. Helena General Plan EIR; CBTPs for Marin City and Novato; and the Broadway District Specific Plan and EIR for American Canyon.

Meghan specializes in multimodal safety policy and planning, active transportation planning and design, transportation demand management, and curbside management with more than 19 years of experience. In addition to her project work, she frequently teaches training courses for local, state, and federal clients. She has served on numerous national research panels and advisory committees and has authored journal articles and national guidance documents for NCHRP, ITE, and FHWA. Meghan is the current Chair of the ITE Safety Council, the founding chair of the ITE Complete Streets Council, and a member of the TRB Pedestrians Committee.

Matt oversees a wide range of projects at the nexus of land use and transportation planning in Petaluma and throughout Marin County. Matt has led transportation studies in Petaluma for over a decade and recently helped the city transition to vehicle miles traveled in support the City’s goals to reduce driving and emissions in the adopted Climate Emergency Framework. Matt recognizes that the public is the ultimate client for all our work, and therefore works collaboratively with our private and public-sector clients to create an inclusive workflow with clear recommendations.

Ashlee is a transportation engineer with experience in traffic operations, active transportation planning, and citywide safety planning. She is committed to working closely with local agencies to develop community driven solutions that improves safety for all users. Ashlee has worked in communities throughout the North Bay, including Calistoga, St. Helena, Rohnert Park, and Sonoma.

Julie is a Principal with a broad transportation planning practice in the Bay Area, including travel demand forecasting, General Plans and Specific Plans, and transportation impact fee nexus studies. Recently, she has worked hands-on with many local cities and counties, including several in the North Bay, to help them implement SB743 by developing VMT analysis methods, tools, and thresholds that make sense for each agency’s local context.
