Interns are exposed to a variety of projects and experiences, giving them a front row seat to what it’s like working as an engineer/planner in a consulting firm. They gain first-hand experience and get to know the team. Many of our interns return as entry-level employees.
Learn with your peers.
Each summer our interns participate in a 6-week webinar series. A variety of topics are covered by staff throughout the firm to give interns an overview of our culture, areas of expertise, technical disciplines, and consulting fundamentals. Many of our offices also welcome interns year-round.
Collaborate as a team.
Our offices are small enough to create close-knit teams and still reap the benefits of being a mid-sized organization, giving you access to top technical experts from both down the hall and around the entire company.
We will make sure you integrate into our culture right away by linking you with another employee who will assist you and answer a wide range of questions questions, including finding information, managing time, and accessing resources.
Dip into the technical side.
We host a Mini 101 Training Series for Bay Area interns to facilitate early training needs for staff just getting their feet wet in project work. Topics may include travel behavior forecasting, data science, signal design, travel demand management, transit, and much more.
Summer is a great time to jump in and get to know staff. Our offices take advantage of the great weather and get together for a variety of events, including family picnics, happy hours, philanthropic activities, Bike to Work Days, and sporting events.

Long Beach Transportation Intern
Our new Long Beach office is seeking a student intern for up to one year, beginning this spring. In the heart of Downtown Long Beach, our five-person team is dedicated to making our community a better place through our passion for transportation planning and engineering. Since our office is new, there are countless opportunities for interns to play an important role. Our interns analyze/solve complex transportation problems and make timely and informed recommendations. Project work opportunities may include traffic operations simulations, bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight and goods movement planning, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, transit planning, and regional transportation plans.

About Our Internships
Our interns take on similar tasks and responsibilities as full-time entry-level staff. Internships are available in all of our offices for the semester, summer, or year. Interns must be at a junior or senior-level pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering; urban and regional planning; or related major. Coursework and/or extracurricular activities in transportation are highly desirable.
