Working Together for Racial Justice

The impact of George Floyd’s horrific killing and other recent grave injustices like it weigh heavily on our staff and communities. They once again viscerally remind us of the undue burdens borne by our employees of color, communities of color, and Black Americans in particular. Know that we hurt, with you. We are sad, with you. We are angry, with you. And we are working together for progress, with you. Systemic and structural racism, violence, and our collective history of discrimination in both this nation and the planning profession have no place in our vision for community flourishing and transportation industry transformation.

Fehr & Peers chooses to raise our collective voice in solidarity with the Black community and all communities of color at this painful time. This is consistent with our firm’s core values. Yet while our voice is extremely important, our actions are even more so, especially now. So we ask you to partner with us in any or all of the following current efforts to:

  • Support one another in taking time to process and learn
  • Further educate ourselves on anti-racism practices in our work
  • Expand our investments in the areas of equity and community engagement
  • Deepen our internal focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Give generously to organizations that support social justice and racial reconciliation

We are willing to take risks in this space and are humbly open to correction when we fail. And we share the commitment to industry change that some of our fellow consultants, public agencies, and other clients and partners have voiced in this moment. We stand together with communities of color across the nation, particularly now when coalitions are needed, when love for one another is too fleeting, and when power and brutality deny grace and mercy in the face of great suffering. We remain resolved to work for transformation, together.
