IT Operations Manager

Corporate Office, Walnut Creek, CA

The Corporate office serves our entire firm and anticipates the needs of staff to support their success. Our Information Technology (IT) team is not a typical IT department. Our unique career space is defined by managing technology solutions for transportation planners and engineers, professionals passionate about improving communities. The offices and regions across our firm all have individual identities and specialized needs, so the Corporate Services team works to minimize bureaucracy and create customized solutions. We’re now seeking a knowledgeable and innovative leader to join our team as the IT Operations Manager. With a collaborative company culture focused on innovation, we take different approaches for successful operations:

We resist the urge to “lock everything down.”

Instead, we collaborate with our users (planners and engineers) and trust them as highly educated professionals.

We focus on career development.

We’re energized in being an innovative and continually learning group participating in the larger Corporate team, which directly influences our business.

We are a visible part of company culture.

Our team maintains working relationships with our users, and we sit next to a commonly used collaboration space (not in a server room).

We speak transportation.

Not only is it fascinating to learn about transportation planning here, it is also compelling to learn about the unique technologies that help deliver these professional services.

Will

Director of Information Technology

“We’re a highly collaborative and innovative group. And while technical skills are critical, having a collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate openly and effectively are equally important. For our users, we need someone with the ability to collaborate with office and technical leaders, relate to their needs, identify solutions, and find effective ways to implement those solutions. For our team, we need a manager who can continually build the team confidence and trust through empowering members to express diverse opinions without reprisal, make mistakes without feeling diminished, and feel genuinely valued for their contributions. Personally, I’m looking for a leader for the junior members of our team that will bring fresh ideas to the table. This new team member needs to operate at a high level of competency while proactively learning about new technologies in order to relate them to our business environment.”

Fatemeh

Transportation Engineer/Planner, Freight Discipline Group Leader

“IT enables me to help fulfill our company’s mission: to empower every employee to develop effective and innovative transportation solutions that improve communities. I rely on our IT team to make sure I have the tools and software necessary to differentiate our firm from the competition. From investigating, evaluating, and visualizing large amounts of data to effectively sharing results with our clients, having the right tools is critical to our ability to deliver for our clients. With our IT team, I’m confident that I can do my work without worrying about if my systems are up to the task. Whether behind the scenes securing faster bandwidth or actively engaging with clients or vendors, our IT team is crucial to our successful track record of improving communities.”
