Our Bay Area region is a blend of creative and technical staff in our San Francisco, Oakland, Walnut Creek, and San Jose offices. We’re looking for a leader with a background in transportation planning who can confidently combine their knack for project management, graphic design, and staff development into their day-to-day role. This individual would have a passion for inspiring others, generating creative ideas, and translating goals into actionable outcomes.

We expect this person to help guide and mentor our Bay Area visual communications staff, a group of 10 planner/designers, GIS specialists, and marketing coordinators. They will do so through collaborating and asking questions that aid in producing top-notch deliverables, where key messaging can be easily interpreted. We will empower this individual to enhance our reputation for producing high-quality visuals in the region, keeping us at the forefront of visualization trends in transportation. The right candidate will be:

Able to inspire others toward shared goals. You have a desire to mentor and build capacity in a regional team of transportation-focused visual communications professionals and are committed to collaborating and raising the bar.

Motivated to raise our bar for visual communications. You’ll put your consulting and client service skills to the test, exercising your experience in business development, articulating various forms of communications, and negotiating scope, schedule and budget.

Dialed in on the tools needed to succeed. You have a strong understanding of graphic design principles and awareness of current trends, proven experience with high-quality graphic production, and an interest in leveraging new technologies and techniques.

Clients will often tell us what they want. But I also need someone on our team who can brainstorm with me on how to convey complex transportation issues and exceed client expectations through visuals that provide more value than the client has asked for.
