Fair Oaks Boulevard Complete Street Simulation

Fehr & Peers assisted Sacramento County with the Fair Oaks Blvd Bike and Pedestrian Mobility Project. The corridor is a heavily traveled arterial with limited direct connection between residential and commercial use. The project included two new mid-block pedestrian signals designed to improve pedestrian mobility while maintaining safety and limit impacts on traffic operations. The following animations were created to illustrate a real world condition at the pedestrian and driver perspective.

The following simulation demonstrates the pedestrian perspective waiting for the signal to change while waiting in a pedestrian refuge. The animation is intended to simulate how it might feel waiting at that location.

The following simulation shows the driver perspective waiting at a signalized mid-block crossing. The driver perspective helps to illustrate if there are any potential blind spots and demonstrate the time it may take to cross an arterial this size.
