For examples of data science applications and custom tools...
Each day, I have the opportunity to interact with clients, data partners, and staff on the use of large data sets in transportation planning projects. These projects can range from analyzing individual GPS traces for use in local neighborhood traffic calming to multi-county travel behavior studies aimed at identifying the purpose and overall travel trends throughout a region. I am looking for a co-worker who brings a critical eye to the “sales pitch” made by teaming partners and who understands the appropriate uses of a variety of data and processing types. If you’re someone who can provide advice to me and our clients in the quickly changing data landscape, then we have just the job for you.
I am excited about the opportunities and challenges large data sets offer for every aspect of transportation and enjoy learning how to apply and convey the results in a meaningful way. I am looking for a co-worker who understands the statistics and data structures and can assist me in channeling my enthusiasm into developing and evaluating innovative data-driven solutions that improve communities.
Director of Information Technology
As IT Director, much of my job revolves around providing infrastructure and support so our staff can provide high quality analysis to our clients reliably and efficiently. Our goal is to identify and implement the most appropriate and efficient tools for the job. Many of our analysis tools and projects are using larger datasets, so I am looking for an experienced team member to provide insight and recommendations on solutions that work now along with a roadmap on where to go next, all while being a team player and helping to implement and adapt the solutions over time.
Senior Transportation Planner
I see web based analytics and visualizations as a necessity for quickly evaluating and presenting transportation outcomes to decision makers and the public. Complex datasets are increasingly becoming part of every project we do, and we are constantly looking for better ways to process, analyze, and tell a compelling story with the material. The web has become the platform for information sharing, and I am looking for a co-worker who can guide my learning, catalyze the creation of my ideas, and provide quality assurance for workflows.
