Senior Engineer/Planner
(Irvine, California)
Fehr & Peers is seeking a senior-level transportation engineer/planner to join the Orange County office. The ideal candidate will have between 10-15 years of progressive experience, an entrepreneurial spirit and the passion to be the best. This person will be exposed to a wide variety of project opportunities, including:
- Traffic impact studies
- Bike/pedestrian plans
- Access and circulation studies
- Smart growth studies
- Specific plans

- Traffic safety studies
- Freeway interchange/corridor studies
- Parking studies
- Traffic/ITS design
|
Responsibilities for this opportunity include:
- Manage multiple projects of varying size and scope – plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate projects.
- Responsible for technical training of junior staff.
- Develop long-term relationships with key clients, including maintaining direct contact with client and/or client’s technical staff.
- Lead and/or participate in marketing efforts including proposal preparation and interviews.
- Marketing efforts generating sufficient work to keep self and at least one other staff position fully chargeable.
- Participation in Fehr & Peers Discipline Group(s).
- On-the-job training and mentoring.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil, electrical engineering; or related major.
- This position requires a minimum of 10 years experience in the one or more of the following:
- Travel model development using TRANSCAD and TRANPLAN.
- Experience in preparing regional transportation plans, circulation/mobility studies, environmental impact reports, corridor studies, traffic impact studies, and bicycle and pedestrian plans.
- Candidate must have work experience demonstrating the ability to market, develop and maintain a client base.
- Work experience demonstrating project management skills on multiple projects.
- Written and oral communication skills must be strong.
- A professional license is not required, but highly desirable.
