Entry-Level Engineer/Planner (All offices)

Job Description

Entry-level engineers and planners will be exposed to a wide variety of projects, including:

  • Traffic impact studies
  • Bike/pedestrian plans
  • Access and circulation studies
  • Smart growth studies
  • Specific plans
  • Traffic safety studies
  • Freeway interchange/corridor studies
  • Parking studies

New hires perform a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Field work
  • Traffic analysis using the latest traffic engineering and planning software
  • Design work opportunities, including signal design
  • Report writing
  • Meeting participation
  • Project management
  • Discipline group participation
  • On-the-job training and mentoring

Qualifications

Engineers/planners must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil, or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major. Desirable work experience includes exposure to field work, traffic operations analysis (e.g., HCS, Synchro, VISSIM), signal design, transportation planning (e.g., bicycle or transit plans, policy), and travel demand modeling (e.g., TP+/Voyager, TransCAD, EMME/2). Technical writing skills should be above average and an EIT for engineering candidates is highly desirable.
